The Hope Fashion Collection

This feminine collection blends whimsical and bohemian elements, featuring illustrated and embroidered moths and butterflies as symbols of transformation and change. I chose to highlight moths in particular to acknowledge the shadows that accompany change- as every transformation brings both loss and renewal. Since moths are creatures of the dark, they add colour and intrigue to spaces of uncertainty. Yet, they are also drawn to the light, a reflection of hope itself- the pull toward something brighter, even in the midst of darkness. This inspired me to infuse the collection with brightness, using white as a symbol of clarity, transition, and new beginnings as well as choosing to use the Speiredonia Spectans (Granny Cloak) moth with his rich brown and bright purple and pink hues.

This theme of hope is also woven into many of my choice of materials. I combined natural fibres like linen, cotton, and leather- which are more grounded and earthy, representing resilience and stability- as well as the softness of lace and chiffon, symbolising lightness, vulnerability, and possibility. Just like hope, the collection balances light and dark, strength and fragility, structure and fluidity, embracing the beauty of transformation and the promise of new beginnings.
