The eye jacket

This jacket came from a collection that I designed inspired from the artist Kimbra. Kimbra has the the most playful and colourful sense of style, adding quirky elements and loads of colour into her outfits, her fashion always being a big part of her overall performance. I really wanted to include her sense of fun and quirkiness as inspiration and create something that is eye catching and bold. This jacket is fully lined with eyes that I drew, digitised and then embroidered on my domestic machine. The eyes at the front are actually pockets with removable eyelashes that I upcycled using feathers for millinery. The removable eyelashes and the snaps for the eyes allows for more versatility so that the jacket can be worn with closed eyes and no lashes for every day use or with one or two of the eyes open with or without eyelashes for a bit of drama for those that really want to stand out!
